Find Gem Arrest Reports

Sometimes a single night of bookings is not enough. Gem County arrest reports can span several days, weeks, or far older record periods. There is a catch. The county posts no multi-day police blotter online. A Gem County arrest log search therefore runs through the Sheriff, Emmett Police, the courts, and archives. It does not run through one public booking list. That wider window helps you trace an arrest after someone leaves current custody. It just takes care, since news stories and statistics serve very different purposes.

Gem County’s Multi-Day Arrest Record

Gem County publishes no seven-day, monthly, or other multi-day booking blotter. The Sheriff's site offers jail service details and office contacts. Emmett Police covers agency information and a records process. Neither posts a scrollable arrest history. That gap matters. An absent log has no archive depth, weekend pattern, photo-retention span, or refresh schedule to lean on.

A multi-day search has to follow the record chain instead. The Sheriff's Office holds county jail booking material. Emmett Police may keep an incident or arrest report. Idaho iCourt shows public case activity after filing, subject to sealing and access limits. IDOC covers state custody and supervision, not fresh county bookings. These sources overlap, but they are not interchangeable.

Important: “No public blotter located” never means “no arrests occurred.” It describes how Gem County provides access.

Where Gem Arrest Reports Live

Match the source to the record type and its age. The jail answers who is in custody now. It will not promise a history by phone. Ask in writing for a past booking. Charges and outcomes live in the court file, while old newspaper accounts add color without replacing the official record.

Source Use Limit
Gem County Jail Current incarceration, charge, bail, visitation Not a public multi-day web log
Sheriff Records Historical booking record, status history, releasable photo Access and fees must be confirmed
Emmett Police EPD incident or arrest report Separate from the jail intake record
Idaho iCourt Filed case, hearings, disposition Not real-time custody; sealed data omitted
Idaho State Archives Older transferred public records Transfer must first be confirmed

Trace Gem County Arrests by Date

No blotter means no easy backward scroll. Build a narrow request around dates instead. That can surface a booking that dropped out of the current-custody answer, and it separates the jail intake record from later court events.

  1. Set the date span and collect the full name. Add the arresting agency if known.
  2. Contact Sheriff Records at (208) 477-2028 or srecords@co.gem.id.us. Request the booking record for that span and describe the fields needed.
  3. For an Emmett Police event, submit the city’s public-records form for the police report. Follow the current instructions on the page because its submission details should be confirmed.
  4. Search Idaho iCourt after filing to compare the intake charge with the charge and disposition in court.
  5. If state custody or supervision followed, check the Idaho Department of Correction Resident/Client Search. It is not a Gem County arrest list.

For today's status, use the Daily Arrest Report. That route leans on the jail call, while the multi-day path leans on dated document requests and case records.

Note: Request a defined date span instead of “all records” so the custodian can identify the intended booking more clearly.

Contents of a Gem Booking File

Blotter fields never appear on the county's public pages. Request the fields that fit your question. Release law may still limit some items. A booking record shows what the jail logged at intake, not the final case result.

Booking identifier
The jail’s number for intake, which differs from a court case number.
Arresting agency
GCSO, EPD, Idaho State Police, another agency, or an outside hold.
Charges as booked
Charges recorded at intake, before later prosecutorial or court changes.
Status history
In custody, released, transferred, sentenced, or held for another authority.
Disposition
The court outcome, obtained from the court record rather than inferred from booking data.

Ask also for booking and release dates, plus bond or hold details. The facility belongs in the request too. Request a photo only if one exists and is releasable. No official Gem County page sets a public online photo policy. Juvenile, sealed, investigative, safety, or privacy limits may apply.

Emmett Has No Arrest Blotter

The Emmett Police Department says it provides 24-hour police coverage. That says nothing about publication. EPD posts no 24-hour arrest log or multi-day blotter. Its official pages carry no booking feed. Arrests that end in county detention land in the Gem County jail system. The department still keeps its own police reports.

The city's EPD public-records page gives the lawful request path and explains that records may require review or redaction. A city report documents officer activity and the event leading to arrest. The county booking file covers intake and custody. Request both only when you need both. Neither office can produce the other's complete file.

Round-the-clock policing and web publication are two different things.

Local News Is Episodic

The weekly Messenger-Index and the Idaho Press Emmett section cover notable arrests, court matters, and public-safety events. Gem County has no systematic arrest feed. No outlet publishes a regular booking-photo gallery. Search news by event, agency, and date, then check what you find against the Sheriff, EPD, the court, or the relevant federal agency.

A story may involve an Emmett resident arrested elsewhere. It may also show a scene image, file photo, or agency handout rather than a booking photo. The publication date is not always the arrest date. These distinctions keep an episodic report from passing as the county's full multi-day log.

Note: Match each report to the booking county because residence, incident location, arrest site, and jail location can differ.

Gem Arrest Rates Are Not Names

Idaho's 2025 NIBRS arrest-rate report puts the Gem County Sheriff's Office at 2,019 arrests per 100,000 residents. That rate was 1,787 in 2023. It dipped to 1,488 in 2024. NIBRS is the National Incident-Based Reporting System. The rate counts reported Group A and Group B arrests.

Trend context is all these numbers offer. They are not named bookings or a headcount of people in custody. One person can trigger more than one agency or record event. Do not stretch the rate table to fill a missing blotter. Sheriff Records handles a named historical booking. Court records hold the result.

Unofficial Gem Arrest Listings

Official channels remain the best stop for Gem County arrest information. Mugshots.com does carry a Gem County section. It runs on its own. The site is not a government system, and it warns that listings can lag or fall short. Its county tally is not a live count. It does not track bookings at the Gem County jail. Recently Booked, Busted Newspaper, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone offer nothing devoted to Gem. An entry there can point to another booking county, an outside hold, a stale arrest record, or a simple filing mistake. Do not settle for a neighboring county page when the arrest happened in Gem. Take any lead back to the county custodian and iCourt before trusting it.

Older Gem County Arrest Archives

Old Gem County arrest records follow state retention rules. The Idaho Historical Society publishes a retention guide for law enforcement, though it is a model rather than Gem County's exact schedule. That guide sorts material into distinct series: booking records, inmate accountability records, inmate case files, mug shots, warrant logs, and records-request files. Some rules turn on the offense type. Others depend on whether a case is closed. Ask the local custodian which approved schedule covers the record you want. Sheriff Records is the place to begin a search for an old booking. Staff can say whether the file stayed with the county, was destroyed under a schedule, moved to the Idaho State Archives, or sits behind restrictions. A confirmed transfer calls for an archives request. Include the agency, date, name, booking or case number, and record type. Newspapers add historical color. The Gem County Historical Society and Museum holds 131 volumes of Messenger-Index back issues. The State Archives keeps newspaper microfilm, including Emmett titles. The Gem County Museum's archive page describes the local collection. These holdings are history, not a current jail roster.
